Production Successes.

19/11
We started filming today. All members of the group were present and we could find people to act for us.

26/11
We managed to upload all of our footage on the computer. It took a while due to the lack of memory.

3/12
We had a tutorial today to help us with effects for when we edit our film. They will come in very handy for the end product.

January/February 2011
We managed to complete all of our filming! Hopefully this material will be final and no more filming will have to be done.

March 2011
We had a really helpful workshop. People came in to assist us with our film. Because of this, we were able to complete most of the editing and we found appropriate music to go with it, along with titles and effects.

March/April 2011
The film is finally complete! Loukas managed to complete the final parts by himself so now it's time for the evalutation.

Production Obstacles

19/11
We had to film in the church today. Unfortunately, the Priest wasn't available for us to get permission.

Because we filmed in the morning today, the sun was quite low, interfering with the camera. We had to get a close-up of a mobile phone but because the light was so bright, we couldn't pick up the design of the screen which was quite important.

26/11
We watched the things that we recorded today. As we played it back our group realised that we didn't do the whitewash so some of the shots outside had a high contrast, resulting in a waste of film.

While trying to edit our film, but halfway through, the programme terminated leaving us without any footage.

December 2010
Because our footage wasn't of a high standard, our group decided to scrap it and make a new plot and we plan to film again.

February/March 2011
After filming our new material, we had to edit right away because we were a bit behind. We kept suffering problems while doing this as the film would always need rendering and as a group, we were on the brink of an argument. This is mainly because we were all stressed and were trying to edit as quickly as possible, but still trying to keep our work of a high standard.

3.1-What I learnt by doing the preliminary exercise.

As I have never done any form media before, I learnt quite a lot by doing this exercise.
During the filming, I picked up on a few things regarding acting, lighting and how the camera works.

Firstly, while filming, you have to make sure that everything is the same if you repeat that scene, or start a next scene from that point. For example, if you film someone coming down the corridor then stopping at a door that is closed, you have to make sure that the next scene starts with the same door and have it closed. We made an error of having the door open and then closed, and it wasn't until we watched it back that we realised that the mistake was made.

Lighting has to be well constructed as well. If an area is too dark, then faces and objects will not be clear to the audience. If natural light is not available, then artifical light should be used.
